Strengthening multi-hazard risk assessment and early warning systems with applications of space and geographic information systems in Pacific Island countries.
Country: Pacific Islands
Client: Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand
Funding Agency: Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand
Partners: ITC, University of Twente, The Netherlands
A Training Needs Assessment (TNA) was conducted across 14 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) to identify capacity gaps, leading to the design of a four-week training course at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). The course enhanced the skills of 12 participants from 12 PICs in creating and managing hazard and risk databases using GeoNode, with hands-on practical sessions. On-the-job training for GeoNode server setup will be provided in three PICs upon request. All training materials are accessible via an e-learning platform.
